The art of pixels

Every single thing that we look at on screen is made up of pixels. Simple fact. We normally look at pixels as a general blend on screen. However for me the real magic of the pixel is when we look at them close up. “Pixel Art” has been around for many years. It was primarily used in early game design. Xerox first made the use of “Pixel Art” commercial, however this then filtered through many various systems such as computer games, mobile phones and early computers. Pixel Art came from cross stitching and uses the same processes of building it up from each “block” so to speak.

Below are excellent examples of Pixel Art. It has become a lot more prevelant with the resurgance of “retro art”

Enjoy.
